I’m Glad You’re Here

Hey there! I’m Tania, mom of twins. Thank you for stopping by.

Moms who feel stuck, frustrated, tired, and depleted visit this blog every week for tips, tricks, hints, and hacks to help them find joy again. We will help you be kinder to yourself, develop more self-compassion and genuinely enjoy motherhood. I want you to feel alive, energised, and excited about life.

As moms, we don’t give ourselves enough credit for the fantastic job we do. It’s tough to be a mom in today’s modern world. We are juggling mental health, physical health, employment, careers, family, identity changes, etc. The pressure is enormous. And rather than give ourselves the credit and support we deserve, our inner critic tells us we are not good enough, so we feel guilty for everything.

Oh My Baby Brain provides you with the tools to support yourself, find a sense of fulfilment and purpose and live with more joy. I believe the greatest gift you can give your child/ren is to be happy. We’ve only got one life, one shot at this, and it should be wondrous. With the proper support and mindset, you can rediscover your zest for living and your passion for motherhood.

Baby Brain

Baby brain, pregnancy brain, mommy brain, and ‘momnesia’, are all terms used to describe the changes in a mother’s brain during and after pregnancy. These terms refer to the feelings of mental fog, inattention and forgetfulness that can arise during pregnancy and beyond.

Baby brain is nothing to worry about! Although there is a decline in cognitive function that becomes more pronounced during the second or third trimester, women remain in the normal range for cognitive function and memory.

The changes in a woman’s brain during and after pregnancy are due to an increase in brain activity on the side associated with emotional skills. These variations help you to become more attuned to your baby’s needs and improve your ability to cope with stress, making you better able to care for your baby.

Baby Brain

Book

2020 was a year that lacked laughter and community, which led the mother of twin’s author, Tania to create a community of mums who share their funniest baby brain moments.

With the goal of reassuring mums who are struggling that they are not alone, this is a hilarious look at what pregnancy hormones and sleep deprivation can do to a woman’s brain.

Whether using toothpaste instead of deodorant, cracking an egg into your morning coffee or finding the post in the fridge, these tales of pregnancy brain will boost your mood and genuinely make you laugh out loud.

Introduction

“When researching this book, I stumbled upon the fact that babies laugh on average 300 times a day while adults laugh only 60. That’s why children teach us more than we could ever possibly teach them. We would live in a wonderful world if adults laughed 300 times a day too”.

“Things don’t always go as planned with babies and toddlers, so it’s helpful to expect the unexpected. I encourage you to embrace the anarchy of motherhood from the spirit of joy and light-heartedness. By reading this book, I hope that you will take comfort from knowing other mums have travelled your path”.

“They say there is no such thing as a perfect mum, but maybe there is. Maybe the perfect mum is the one who consistently shows up, does her best and comes from a place of love. You are the perfect mum to mother your baby”.
